1906 Gymphlex Family

1906 - Grahame Gardner Is Founded

Grahames Schoolwear is founded by James Gardner Grahame and James Greenlees on London Road, Leicester, supplying daywear and Gymphlex PE clothing to local schools. This was the start of a British Sportswear Manufacturing Institution.

1930 Scotland Rugby

1930 - The Scotland Rugby Team Choose Gymphlex

The Scotland Rugby team choose Gymphlex as their official kit supplier. This team photograph taken at Twickenham following a successful year with our founders son, Harry Greenlees playing at fly-half.

1933 Bobby Meredith Tennis Captain

1933 - Bobby Meridith, England Tennis Captain Chooses Gymphlex

In 1933 Bobby Meredith England Tennis Captain chooses Gymphlex. He competed at every Wimbledon held between 1933 and 1950 and was Leicestershire County champion from 1942-1946 and 1948-1951. Bobby is also the grandfather of our Executive Chairman - James Greenlees.

1934 Leicester Tigers

1934/1935 - Leicester Tigers Choose Gymphlex 

For the 1934/35 season Leicester Tigers choose Gymphlex as their official kit supplier.Harry Greenlees captained the side. During this period there was the first BBC radio broadcast from Welford Road when Leicester beat Waterloo 21-5.

1946 Relocate to Lincolnshire

1946 - Relocation To Lincolnshire

Gymphlex relocate from Leicester to Horncastle, Lincolnshire. This decision was made after Horncastle was identified as one of the areas in a post-war Britain with the greatest need for employment.

1947 Dennis Compton Playing for England

1947 Dennis Compton Chooses Gymphlex

Dennis Compton chose Gymphlex for his Cricket whites whilst playing for England. In 1947 Compton thrilled the war-weary English public with his cavalier batting, he scored five centuries, one for Middlesex and four for England, accumulating 1,056 runs at an average of 88.

1973 Purpose built Horncastle Factory

1973 A New Era For Gymphlex

In 1973 Gymphlex moved to a purpose built single-storey factory on Boston Road, Horncastle. This factory shows the way in which the County of Lindsey was setting an example to the rest of the Country for development in rural areas.

Grahame Gardner Ltd and Gymphlex Ltd celebrate 100 years of manufacturing sporting garments. Although the public didn't see the brand Gymphlex until 1936 its products had been sold by its sister company Grahame Gardner Ltd since 1906.

Launch of Gymphlex originals a collection of everyday leisurewear inspired by Gymphlex sporting catalogue. This collection had already been selling exclusively in Japan, but from June 2013 it was sold to other Countries around the world.
