For our fantastic Gymphlex Hero, Lea Van Der Zwalmen, it was her first trip to the French Ladies Real Tennis Open in Paris.
From a solid month of intensive training in numerous locations; the Queens Club in London, Seacourt (Hayling Island) and Hampton Court, Lea headed to the Open event well prepared.
It’s not just Real Tennis that our talented Hero is involved with. Lea has had numerous tournament experience and success in other sport’s ( Squash and Rackets), becoming the Women’s World Rackets Doubles Champion in 2016 and the first ever Ladies Rackets World Champion.
From taking part in the French open this year, Lea successfully beat the number 2 seed in the doubles Semi Finale competition and was able to play against the current World Champion and doubles partner in the Finale.
Reflecting on her trip, Lea gained some well earnt experiences. ‘’Being surrounded by so many top players and having the opportunity to chat to them and watch them play was definitely instructive - I was truly amazed by some of the players' dedication and professionalism. Watching Real Tennis being played at the highest level has definitely inspired me to play more and push even harder. I am already looking forward to playing again next year!’’, Lea explained.
